My (abridged) Life Story
My name is Brandon Ratzlaff, and I am a senior at Kansas State University majoring in Graphic Design. I can't wait to graduate, but not because I don't enjoy the college life, simply because I love the career that I have chosen and can not wait to begin life in the "real world" as they call it. I work for the incredible New Boston Creative Group, designing both for the Web and print. Take a look at some of our work. Go on, I know you're interested. So now that we have that out of the way, let me tell you a bit more about the designer in me.
I was raised the son of a professional portrait photographer and have been surrounded by creative minds since day one. This background ultimately led me to my career decision. While many people might not see the relationship between photography and graphic design, important elements of one can be found in the other. Both photography and graphic design deal with space, color, and how each part of the finished piece comes together. The creative mind of my father was definitely passed down to me, but I am a very technical person as well. I will never let the finest detail go overlooked.
You mean there's more?
Because of my background, my design education began long before college. Some of the "industry standard" programs that I am proficient in are, but are not limited to, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Quark, Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, and both OS X and Windows environments. This list is constantly growing, as I am always learning new applications and technologies related to the web and design.
